Where did ALS come from?
 The original version of ALS was written from 2002 to 2006 as part of the PhD work of Murali R. Rajamani under the supervision of Prof. James B. Rawlings in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It has been improved since then by other group members.
